Women doing business in Westlands Constituency have received a major boost after Mama Twende Programme officially entered into a partnership with ISBI Team, an affiliate of Strathmore University Business School.

The partnership is meant to offer training to women in business on best practices for running Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

Mama Twende Programme is one of the flagship projects initiated by area MP Tim Wanyonyi. The programme involves empowering women through table banking as well as training of women through technical courses such as Hair and beauty, catering, fashion and design, driving and business training.

Through this initiative, the businesswomen are equipped with requisite skills to be self-reliant and financially liberated thus giving them a platform to independently make decisions that affect their day to day life.

In his speech during the colourful event held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 Mr Wanyonyi underscored the importance of the partnership, explaining that more women will be knowledgeable and skilled in doing business.

He revealed that he had started the programme as a table banking project and has seen it grow to a mega enterprise.

“Learning does not end at the class level. Practice that which you are being taught and you will surely witness improvement in your business operations. You cannot remain the same after getting informed.

“You are the pioneers of the project and keep in mind that you must set a good example to encourage the other groups that will join the training in the near future,” he said.

The third time MP thanked the ISBI Team for the partnership and promised that his office will offer a conducive environment for them to offer their services and training.

“To ISBI Team, I request that you may consider coming up with programmes that will also benefit the youths. We look forward to a smooth running. To Kibondeni College, thank you very much for always being available to train and host our Mama Twende beneficiaries,” he said.
