Education CS Dr George Magoha has announced reopening of primary and secondary schools. Progressive reopening of schools will start with grade 4, class 8 and form 4. These shall report on 12th October. However, schools shall have to adhere to strict guidlines to avoid the spread of Covid-19. The new school calendar is as shown below.
The ministry of health has put the following guidelines for the resumption of learning:
- Mandatory use of face masks, hand sanitizing, and temperature monitoring for everyone accessing schools
- Although social distancing shall remain a problem, no one should use it to keep children from school.
- Fumigation of all schools previously used as quarantine centers.
- All schools have been linked to the nearby health facilities.
- Teachers should remain committed to offer spiritual and emotional support to the students and the staff.
- BOM/ head teachers / principals shall ensure compliance with the regulations.
